Embracing Nature: The Worm that Turned Joins the 30 Days Wild Challenge
Nature has always been an integral part of our lives (a fact I was reminded of when the dawn chorus woke me up at some ungodly hour this morning), inspiring us with its beauty and providing us with a sense of peace and tranquility. At The Worm that Turned, we firmly believe in the power of nature to enrich our lives and enhance our well-being. That's why we are thrilled to announce our company wide participation in the 30 Days Wild challenge, an initiative by The Wildlife Trusts; an organisation that we've supported locally since our shop opened in 2004. In this blog, we will delve into the essence of the challenge and shed some light on why we have enthusiastically embraced it.
What is the 30 Days Wild challenge?
The 30 Days Wild challenge, organized by The Wildlife Trusts, is an annual event that invites individuals, families, and organizations to connect with nature every day for the entire month of June. It encourages people to step out of their routines and explore the wonders of the natural world that surround us.
Why are we taking part?
1. Reconnecting with nature:
At The Worm that Turned, we recognize the importance of reconnecting with nature in our fast-paced, technology-driven lives. The 30 Days Wild challenge presents a unique opportunity for us to pause, step outside, and immerse ourselves in the beauty of the natural world. By participating, we hope to inspire others to do the same and experience the myriad benefits of spending time in nature.
2. Environmental stewardship:
As a company committed to sustainable and eco-friendly practices, taking part in the 30 Days Wild challenge aligns perfectly with our values. We understand that conserving our natural environment is crucial for the well-being of both present and future generations. By actively engaging with nature during this challenge, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship and inspire others to make sustainable choices.
3. Inspiring creativity and innovation:
Nature has always been a rich source of inspiration for artists, designers, and innovators. By participating in the 30 Days Wild challenge, we seek to tap into this wellspring of creativity and channel it into our work. Exploring nature's colours, patterns, and textures will fuel our imagination and enable us to develop innovative and sustainable products that enhance outdoor spaces and bring nature closer to our customers' lives.
4. Promoting well-being:
Numerous studies have highlighted the positive impact of nature on our mental and physical well-being. Taking part in the 30 Days Wild challenge allows us to prioritize self-care and promote the well-being of our team members. By encouraging them to spend time in nature and embrace its healing qualities, we hope to create a healthier and happier work environment.
5. We've got some products that can assist:
Interest declaration! Nature orientated gifts have been part of our ranges since our inception and we have worked particularly hard to identify products that not only look great but also do a great job for nature too! Check out our overview of 'Garden Friends' here.
Our commitment to the challenge:
Throughout the 30 Days Wild challenge, we will be sharing our experiences, insights, and inspirations on our blog and social media platforms. We will document our daily encounters with nature, from visiting local parks and nature reserves to engaging in activities like birdwatching, planting trees, and creating wildlife-friendly spaces. We also aim to collaborate with local conservation organizations and communities to amplify our impact and foster a sense of collective responsibility towards the environment. We'll also be looking to run some competitions and giving away spot prizes as the month progresses. Keep checking our socials and our blog updates.
As The Worm that Turned, we believe that our participation in the 30 Days Wild challenge not only strengthens our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, but also allows us to inspire others to reconnect with nature. By embracing the challenge, we hope to ignite a deep appreciation for the natural world, encourage creativity and innovation, promote well-being, and contribute to the preservation of our planet. Oh and we might have a bit of fun too!
Join us on this exciting journey as we dive into 30 days of wildness and experience the transformative power of nature. Together, let's make every day an adventure in the great outdoors.
