This zinc and glass rainfall is an easy way to measure the rainfall in the garden.
The glass vase is supported on a tall zinc pole with a pronged end. Simply push the end of the pole into the ground in the garden and allow the rain to be caught in the glass container. The measurements up the side of the vase allows the amount of rain to be read easily.
It is a lovely gift for keen gardeners who wish to keep an eye on the amount of rain in their garden or for interested children and budding meteorologists.

Tides are caused by many factors, but by far the most influential is the moon’s gravitational pull on the ocean. It takes the moon on average 24hrs, 50 minutes and 28 seconds to reappear at the same place in the sky, during this period most areas in the world have two high tides and two low tides.
The tide clock has been specially designed to rotate twice each period giving you a quick and easy indication of high and low water.
Full instructions on how to set up your tide clock are included. Position clock in sheltered location away from the brunt of the elements if possible.
Needs one AA battery (not supplied).

This growing (in both senses of the word) art/science can inform you when to plant and to water for maximum effectiveness/yield.
Used by the ancients the phases of the moon are believed to have a beneficial effect on the growth of certain plants.
So when the moon is waxing i.e. where the light of the moon is increasing then it is believed to be the time to plant or sow vegetables that grow above the ground. Such as spinach, peppers, beans, broccoli etc.
Likewise when the moon is waning and there is less light then is the time to plant root vegetable such as potatoes, beetroots or carrots.
Full instructions for setting up your clock are included. Made from recycled coffee cups. Suitable for use outdoors.
For more information on lunar gardening this is the best website we’ve found. http://www.gardeningbythemoon.com/phases.html Please note that this is a US site and therefore whilst the information on the principles of lunar gardening are sound, the calendars featured are only for the US as of course they have a different moon (if you know what we mean!)
