Sat Bains – throughout the festival
Sat Bains and his wife, Amanda, run Nottingham’s Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms, which in 2003 was awarded the city’s first ever Michelin star.

After passing his City and Guilds qualification, Sat got his big break when he became part of the team helping to open the first of Raymond Blanc’s brasseries, Le Petit Blanc in Oxford in 1996. A spell at L’Escargot in London followed shortly afterwards, before he returned to Nottingham to take the head chef position at the Martins Arms in Colston Basset.

After working with the restaurant of The Ashbourne Gallery in Derbyshire, Sat won the Roux Scholarship in 1999, which gave him the chance to work at the three Michelin-starred Restaurant Le Jardin des Sens in the south of France. On his return he secured the position of head chef at the Hotel des Clos in Nottingham, which was relaunched and renamed Restaurant Sat Bains at Hotel des Clos in November 2002.

Sat has made many television appearances, including the BBC’s Great British Menu when, in spring 2007, he won the chance to cook the starter at the ambassador's banquet.

Sat continues to appear on the Great British Menu.

Richard Fox
As part of an exciting schedule which sees the Market Square play host to a celebrity chefs theatre and a local speciality food and drink market, there are numerous events taking place in venues in and around the city centre.

With the emphasis on drink, we’ve pulled together a host of beer tasting related events which will take place during the festival period.

We’re delighted to announce the presence of celebrity chef,  Richard Fox.  Richard is a TV chef, with specialty knowledge of beer. He was last year's winner of The British Guild of Beer Writers awards for Food and Beer writing.  He‘s also had his own cooking slot on BBC1 Regional Look North and is a regular chef on BBC 2's Food Poker.

His first book, The Food and Beer Cook Book was published by Senate in 2006, and was launched in Australia by Marshal Cavendish this year. Richard co-wrote Morrissey's Perfect Pint with Neil Morrissey which was published by Collins in September 2008. Channel 4 then commissioned a three part series based on the book, which aired in October.

His expertise in the world of beer make him a favourite personality for hosting gourmet beer and food events and there’s no doubt he’ll be one of the stars of this year’s festival.
