Case Study - Workplace Furniture

The Department Store, Brixton

The new home of award-winning architecture practice Squire & Partners. The Department Store was a dilapidated Edwardian department store bought by Squire & Partners in 2015. They entirely reimagined the space over a period of two years, allowing the existing fabric and layers of history to inform the new design. We are proud to have collaborated with Squire & Partners, providing a collection of brand new outdoor furniture. Read more about their amazing project in Architecture Today

The Refurbishment

The Department Store was a result of collaborations between craftspeople, makers, designers and suppliers, all working together to create a stunning new work environment for the employees of Squire & Partners. Most of our Fermob furniture went into the rooftop staff lounge, restaurant and bars. Squire & Partners chose a pared-back colour-scheme of cedar, willow green and liquorice, accentuated with a pop of paprika.

The Furniture

The main Fermob ranges that feature in this selection are the Bistro collection, the Luxembourg collection and the Bellevie collection. All items in these collections are designed for comfort and functionality, and all feature a simple, modern design that contrasts against the backdrop of the classic Edwardian roof terrace of The Department Store. The versatility of Fermob furniture styles, to give a coherent furniture scheme, is amply demonstrated here.

Our Fermob Service

Our work with Squire & Partners started with a site visit to talk about their specific requirements. Obviously we took swatches and catalogues with us to their studio and explored the many different furniture options that we provide. Squire & Partners had a good idea of how they wanted their new stylish alfresco space to feel and we were happy to present them with CGIs to give them an idea of how their new space would look.

Complimentary Designs

One of the unique features of Fermob furniture is that most of the designs are modern and clean. This means that furniture pieces from different ranges would sit comfortably together.

Please do get in touch with us if you would like an eclectic mix of furniture and colours but are unsure of the best combinations. Our team will be more than happy to put together some suggestions for you.
