Corten Steel Outdoor Fireplace with Griddle Plate
Part fireplace, part outdoor kitchen, this striking corten steel piece brings warmth, flame and cooking together. Light a wood fire in the base, and the thick steel griddle plate above is ready for plancha-style cooking, searing steaks, sizzling vegetables or cooking breakfast in the open air.
Plancha cooking, popular in Spain, uses a very hot flat plate rather than a grill, so food cooks quickly and evenly and keeps all its juices. The 10mm plate reaches around 275 to 300°C within half an hour of lighting, with the centre hottest and the edges cooler, so you can cook and keep food warm at the same time. Use it directly, or set pans and kettles on top. Sliding the ash pan out a little lets in more air to liven up the fire.
Its boxy, angular body gives it a bold retro look that makes a real feature on a terrace. The griddle sits at a comfortable 85cm cooking height, and the corten steel weathers to a rich, rusty patina that sits beautifully alongside planting and natural timber.
A flue and rain cap are included. To extend or angle the flue, see our Corten Steel 15.4cm Flue Pipes, 45° Bends and 90° Bends.
Add a side worktop in wood, bamboo or stainless steel to either side, for plates, tools and ingredients, with the Side Worktops, ordered separately.
For more ways to cook over fire, see our Corten Steel Stove and Pizza Oven.
