Corten Steel Specifications

The classic Corten Steel, or weathering steel, finish allows you to enjoy your retaining walls changing from a mid-grey to a beautiful orange-brown patina. With this finish, leaving your retaining walls outdoors is a positive as the weather helps the material form a protective layer of rust, resulting in the familiar orange-brown colour, and rough texture.

Installation below ground level

Step 1: Make sure to have a solid, flat foundation before installing retaining walls. Without this, there is a possibility of damage to walls due to tension along connections and straight edges.

Step 2: Install your retaining walls on the solid foundation. Bolt your desired walls together with the supplied materials.

★ Loosely tighten the bolts first, and then tighten them once you're happy with the position

Step 3: In order to stabilise your walls, make sure to have at least 10 cm of soil above the base plate, and on either side of your wall(s).

★ See ‘Installation on ground level’ for more tips

Step 4: Finish by adding your desired materials, e.g. soil, compost, etc. to the inside of your retaining walls, and complete any potential paving.
