The Paris Chair was designed in 1929 by the Danish architect Arne Jacobsen, for a competition run by the Basket Makers' Association. It went on to furnish his "House of the Future" at the Housing and Building Exhibition in Copenhagen. This outdoor version keeps the generous curved seat and rounded armrests of the rattan original.
It is hand-bent in Alu-Rattan and handwoven in all-weather ArtFibre, finished to look just like natural rattan. Unlike natural rattan, it can stay outside all year round, by the pool or on a terrace, patio or balcony, and needs nothing more than a wash down now and then.
Low and deep, it is a chair for sinking into with a book and a cup of tea.
If you're looking for indoor rattan furniture, please note that Sika-Design's interior pieces are made in natural rattan, which is not weather resistant, so do check whether a design is for inside or out.
If you have any queries about any aspect of the range, please phone our furniture helpline on 0345 6052505 where we will be delighted to help you or if you prefer send us an email.
